Insights on the correlation between gross
income and the sub-brands
within the Volkswagen Group

By analysing more than 1.6 MM German, French and Spanish Auto loans stored in our database and securitised between 2014 and 2016, we were able to drill down for each country and at the region level, the correlation between gross income and the vehicle sub-brand within the Volkswagen Group.

Facts:

  • In France Volkswagen Group vehicles seem to be more attractive to higher income borrowers, more so than even within Germany
  • Germany shows the largest regional variations, with Eastern Germany displaying lower income levels relative to Western and Southern Germany
  • The highest concentration of Skoda car loans are found in Eastern Germany
  • The Spanish sub-brand SEAT over-performs in its domestic market compared to France and Germany
