European DataWarehouse Reappointed to European Commission NPL Advisory Panel

Frankfurt, Germany – 28 January 2026

European DataWarehouse (EDW) is pleased to announce its continued membership on the European Commission’s Non-Performing Loans (NPL) Advisory Panel, with Dr. Christian Thun, EDW CEO, representing the company as its voice of transparency and data quality.

EDW has been a member of the Advisory Panel since 2021, contributing expertise to support the development of robust, data-driven policies for the European NPL market.

Within the Panel, EDW focuses on:

  • Transparency across European NPL markets
  •  Data quality to support informed decision-making

  •  Market confidence, underpinned by reliable, high-quality data

In response to regulatory updates and market developments under the EU Securitisation Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2017/2402), EDW will also contribute to the revision of the dedicated ESMA template for NPL ABS transactions.

“EDW is committed to fostering transparency and high-quality information across European NPL markets,” said Christian Thun. “Our participation in the Advisory Panel allows us to contribute practical insights and support policy decisions that strengthen the market for all stakeholders.”

EDW’s commitment to supporting the market extends beyond advisory contributions. In October 2024, the company published its report, “The European Non-Performing Loans: Evolution and Future Prospects”, providing an in-depth analysis of NPL trends, regulatory developments, and insights for policymakers, investors, and market participants. The report, developed with the support of Zenith Global S.p.A. is available for download here.

Building on its existing Private Area, which already hosts over 350 private transactions, including numerous NPL transactions, EDW continues to strengthen secure access to NPL documentation. Following the launch of dedicated NPL templates in the Private Area in 2022, EDW is further enhancing document management through its virtual data room, DealDox™. DealDox™ facilitates the controlled transmission and hosting of documents for both public and private securitisations, enabling issuers to retain full control over access for selected investors, rating agencies, and regulatory authorities, safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring confidentiality. For NPL transactions, market participants can access underlying exposures, NPL-specific documentation, and other relevant information via a user-friendly interface, streamlining reporting and document-sharing while supporting informed investment and policy decisions.

Through its work on the Advisory Panel, research initiatives, and technology solutions like DealDox™, EDW continues to reinforce its role as a trusted provider of structured finance data, supporting transparency, stability, and informed decision-making across Europe’s NPL markets.

About European DataWarehouse

European DataWarehouse (EDW) is a designated Securitisation Repository, authorised by both the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Established in 2012, EDW was the first repository of its kind in Europe, created to improve transparency and support due diligence in the asset-backed securities (ABS) market.

EDW collects, validates, and provides access to standardised loan-level data and related documentation for ABS transactions and private whole loan portfolios. By serving as a central data hub, EDW enables investors, issuers, and regulators to efficiently analyse and compare portfolios, fostering greater trust and efficiency in the securitisation ecosystem.
